MY TOP FOUNDATIONS FOR DRY SKIN

As I struggle trying the find the right balance of moisture and oil control in a foundation for my skin, Winter takes place and turns my skin dry and dehydrated so a moisturising foundation is definitley the way forward. These are a selection of my favourite foundations I reach for when my skin needs a bit more moisture.

L'oreal true match foundation
I was impressed by the wide range of shades this foundation was available in. This is very similar to the Giorgio armarni foundation in both texture and coverage but without the price tag. This foundation blends like a dream and gives the skin a silky finish. Comfortable to wear all day and doesn't oxidise on my skin. The foundation covers my pores well although it can sometimes prone to sit onto the dry patches. I highly recommene this foundation for everyday wear as it has a natural buildable coverage and looks beautiful on the skin.

Bourjois Happy Light foundation
Described to give a 'luminous and flawless complexion in any light'. This promises the dewy you desire which is important for the cold winter months where skin is prone to be dull and grey. This gives a healthy natural glow to the complexion but do be aware that shine does break through after a few hours if not set with a powder or spray. I adore the finish of this and I feel that it is just a little less coverage than the healthy mix serum foundation which is one of my most loved foundations. I find that this foundation has a tendency to oxidise so be aware when you purchase your shade.

Lancome teint miracle
Lancome has always been a brand that never fails to impress me. Although I love matte finish foundations due to my oily skin and forever looking shiny, I enjoyed using this foundation as it gave me a hint of dewyness without looking greasy. This foundation blends beautifully and the medium coverage is perfect for days when my skin is in good condition. This lightweight formulation allows my skin to breathe throughout the day and it wears into the day very well without the tendency to oxidise.

Giorgio armarni luminous silk
This foundation is much loved amongst the beauty blogger world. The biggest selling point about this foundation is that it doesn't contain any SPF which makes it the foundation of choice for nights out where flash photography is involved. This smooth foundation again is very easy to blend and I find that it is a very similar formulation to the loreal true match foundation. This is a lighter weight foundation and I love using this for the summer months where this isnt too heavy on the skin and hardly needs any setting powder.

BRING ON THE SUNSHINE

Recently we have seen a bit of sun peeking through despite still being quite chilly at times; therefore I feel that I ought to grab a few products to welcome the summer sunshine and get into the spirit. These products I always go for to help achieve that effortless glowy sunkissed skin and that bright pop of colour to the lips.

BOURJOIS CC CREAM

Apart from mineral foundation which is my most grabbed product during the summer, I like using this CC cream at times to give me that extra dewy finish and giving me that extra bit of SPF 15 on top of my usual skincare. This is a light to medium coverage and feels so lightweight on the skin which makes it ideal for summer time where we tend to perspire a little bit more. A full review can be found here if you are interested.

BENEFIT CHA CHA TINT

For that healthy sunkissed look, I like the use this to give me that flushed from within look. This lightweight watery formula gives the most natural finish and I find that used in conjuction with a cream highlight gives the perfect radiance for the summer. However, with this product you have to work quite quickly as it does dry very easily because of its formulation - I recommend using your fingers to dab on the product rather than applying it straight from the brush. You can also use this as a stain on the lips which is an extra bonus and one of my personal faves to wear during the summer as its so long lasting and waterproof.

BURBERRY FRESH GLOW NO.1

I love the versatility of this product as I find that there are multiple uses of it. Firstly, if my skin is looking a bit dull, I mix a bit of this with my foundation to provide me with a bit of extra glow. I also use this as a highlighter when I have applied my base. There is subtle shimmer in this which is great because it doesn't make your make up look too heavy or over the top. Just enough to add a hint of glimmer on your skin for that healthy glow.

MARC JACOBS DAISY EAU SO FRESH

Perfect daytime scent for the summer and I'm sure those of you who have smelt this will agree with me that this is this scent is made for the summer months. Refreshing and delicate, I find that this long lasting perfume can be worn effortlessly and great for all occasions. This is a little bit different from the original Daisy which I am also a big fan of but I find that this one is a little bit more gentle and powdery as opposed to than floral.

REVLON MOISTURE STAIN - 010 LA EXCLUSIVE

Not really a big fan of dark or matte lip colours as the cold seasons are all in the past. I like to lean towards the easy to wear balmy - glossy type lip products. Revlon has impressed me when they first launched these moisture stain and I have been loving them. So easy to apply and comfortable to wear therefore I always grab this to finish off my look during the summer. The way that it doesn't overly stain my lips does it for me as it only stains a little bit because of the selection of colours own. Definitly moisturising on the lips which is great because it prevents lips from being dry and flakey. Full review and a couple of swatches can be found here if you are interested.

(I was lucky enough to visit Rome for several days with my boyfriend so upcoming post soon)

BOURJOIS CC CREAM || REVIEW

I was intrigued by CC cream ever since the craze all started and I was thrilled that my favourite drugstore foundation brand Bourjois has launched one. My holy grail drugstore foundation is the Bourjois healthy mix serum (Review here if interested) therefore I had high expectations of this CC cream.

Recently, my skin has been a little dry and patchy maybe due to my skin type changing or the weather taking its toll so I wanted to try a more moisturising formulation to not only help keep my skin hydrated, but to give it a more natural lightweight finish ready for the summer. I swatched this product on the back of my hand and although the consistency was watery and thin, the coverage was pretty good and easy to blend.

The CC cream smells like all the other Bourjois foundations; a light florally scent, which I'm not too bothered about and I even quite like it to be honest. The tube is plastic and so easy to carry around when travelling and it doesn't take up much space. As a nursing student, it is so important to have a foundation that stays put throughout the day as I do not usually have time to touch up or powder and i must say that this foundation really does stay put and doesn't melt off my face as quickly as i thought. Obviously with my oily skin, i did need to use a finishing powder on top of it and touched up every 5-6 hours when my shine came through, but I really did like the look that it gave my skin.

The coverage is not only good, it also looks really natural and dewy which i think is perfect for summer. Using this has helped with my dry patches on my face as it does promise 24 hours hyrdation, although i don't have this on my face for that period of time to actually know whether it does or not. For under £10, I cannot fault this product and i have been using this non stop for the past several weeks as i have been waking up early and this product is a life saver for getting ready quick in the morning.

BOURJOIS HAPPY LIGHT FOUNDATION || REVIEW

Bourjois Paris Happy Light foundation - Shade 50 porcelain

My skin has been quite dry during these cold winter months therefore I felt that I ought to use a more hydrating and lighter foundation compared with my usual mattifying ones. I always adore the Bourjois beauty range and i really enjoyed using my Bourjois healthy mix serum foundation therefore i chose to try out this happy light foundation. I think now that i am getting a little bit older, my skin is less oily and a bit dehydrated at times so i knew that this one is great for providing me with the extra moisture and injecting radiance back into it. This product has a light floral scent which is quite refreshing and not too overpowering. It blends out very easily and it is definitely very lightweight and applies seamlessly. I prefer to use my fingers as i find that sometimes using a foundation brush would cause streaking and i may end up applying much more foundation that needed.

This foundation offers a light to medium coverage but i find that it can be easily built up if more coverage is what you need. It doesn't look cakey and it does give you that healthy glow to make you look fresh and awake. Longevity wise, it lasts quite well on my skin without primer and without setting although a bit of shine does appear on my nose and forehead after a few hours due to my natural oily complexion. However, when i choose to use a mattifying primer and set the foundation with powder, it lasts so well throughout the day without me needing to touch up. I work for long shifts, therefore looking oily is the last thing i want and this foundation is great!

I highly recommend this foundation because i really do think that its suitable for all ages and skintype depending on how you apply this. It claims to provides hydration for 8hours and i can agree to that because i didn't have any dry patches when i used this foundation and it doesn't oxidize too like other drugstore foundations tend to do. Lovely foundation and i am so glad i purchased this!
