Product fail: L'oreal infallable Total Cover foundation
After seeing so many reviews and instagram videos on this foundation, I decided to pick this up and give it a go. I am a huge fan of the Estee Lauder Double wear and have been through a couple of bottles of it so the potential for a cheaper alternative was just too good to ignore. For starters, I admit that I do not need such a high coverage foundation, but I do look for the longevity of a foundation as I work long hours without having the opportunity to touch up.
I like how the tube is so sleek in packaging and perfect for travelling with. This has a mousse texture and dries down very quickly so you need to blend instantly after applying. I have tried using my fingers, beauty blender and a foundation brush and I feel that the best way of applying this is with a damp beauty blender. I feel that this clings onto my dry patches unfortunately but although the overall coverage is amazing and the finish is matte, it really does seems pretty lightweight on the face. I did not use any setting powder on top the first time I used it as it didn't seem like I needed to due to the matte finish, but I was so wrong after a few hours and it started to break down on my face and I was horrified as it was so difficult to retouch after a few hours.
So I decided to try next day with a setting powder and setting spray. I found that throughout my 13 hour shift, I was checking up on my face but I wasn't pleased with what I saw. The makeup was cakey and started to patch on certain areas of my face. When I tried to re-apply powder on top to get rid of the shine and even it out, it just made it look far worse. I had high hopes of this foundation and I really adored the initial flawless finish that it gave, but maybe it wasn't suitable for my skintype. I have now gravitated back to my double wear for the time being until I can find a better alternative.

MY 13 HOUR SHIFT ESSENTIALS
Working as a nurse means that it is vital for me to find products that are long lasting throughout my tedious and somewhat draining shift without having to touch up. I find that these products have worked well for me and helped me look half decent after the long shift.

TOP FOUNDATIONS FOR OILY SKIN
Over the years of combatting my oily complexion and experimenting with numerous different foundations in the hope that one day I would find the solution. These 4 foundations I have found to work best to keep me shine free throughout the day. In addition, I do like to use a primer under my foundation to help it last longer. I did a post here which summarises all my primers that in my collection.
YSL fusion Ink foundation
This is very similar to my L’oreal tent magique in a sense that it is both a thin liquid texture that melts into the skin transforming into powder. This gives an airbrushed finish and there is no need for extra setting powder. It has a little spatula wand that places the product on your face before blending it in. I find that using the warmth of your fingers to blend in the foundation to be the best method as you have to be quite quickly. I do warn girls out there with combination oily skin and prone the the random dry patch - This foundation does cling onto it emphasising it. This foundation is gives a lightweight comfortable feel and perfect for days where skin appears to be having a good day and doesn’t need as much coverage. Lasts around 4 hours before my shine starts to break through. I reviewed the L'oreal Teint magique foundation here.
Lancome teint miracle 24h
This is the most heavy foundation that I own in my collection in my opinion but It really does keep your face shine free for the longest period. This is a medium to heavy coverage so there is isn’t a need for me to apply extra concealer. The consistency of this foundation is very thick but it blends relatively easy to give a nice flawless finish. There is SPF in this foundation and I have noticed that there are minor flashback when with flash photography so I would be wary if you are going to an occasion where there are lots of photo taking. Recommend this foundation for more oilier skin or if you want a heavy coverage base. Full review here
Rimmel lasting finish
This is my most recent purchased foundation. I have combination oily skin and I find that this foundation stays put on my face and keeps me looking matte for a long period. I work long hour shifts and after my shift, I do look a little shiny but a nice kind with a bit of a glow rather than oil slick. This is a thick formulation but I find it a bit easier to blend compared with the Lancome Teint Miracle. Medium to full coverage, this foundation masks all my imperfections whilst giving me a subtle dewiness to the skin that doesn’t look too matte. For a drugstore foundation, I am very impressed with this and I have been using it on a daily basis for the past month along with my other January favourites
Chanel Perfection Lumiere
I used to use the Matte Lumiere but that was unfortunatley discontinued and replaced by this foundation. I seem to reach for this foundation the least compared to the other ones and I actually don't know why. This is a medium to full coverage and it blends very nicely too. Like the name suggests, it does give a subtle glow to the skin allowing for a more natural look to the skin. This foundation is very comfortable to wear and it has a slight delicate scent of roses. Not much to say about this foundation apart from it does its job well and even my mum complimented on how nice my skin looked with it randomly. I did a full review a couple of years ago when I first purchased it here.

I apologise for the poor quality of the picture of my face shot. I actually forgotten my camera for the day so I had to resort to using my iPhone 5 but hope you guys can see the look that I was going for. I opted for a subtle smokey eye using my Narsissist palette which I thought was perfect for that muted eye look that looks both classy and wedding guest appropriate. The shadows were also very easy to blend and complimented my skintone nicely. The contoured look worked wonders for the professionl photos taken as it emphasised on my facial features making it more multi-dimentional. I didn't bother with lashes and it was quite hot and humid and I didn't want to worry about my lashes lifting or coming off. I did choose to use a convenient lipstain which was great as there were alot of drinking and eatting involved so matte lips were a definite no no. My make-up lasted throughout the day and night thanks to my rimmel stay matte powder and I really had a great time.

GIORGIO ARMARNI : LUMINOUS SILK FOUNDATION | Review
I have been wanting to try out this foundation since forever now and last month i finally got my hands on this. For starters, I really adore the design of the bottle. The foundation is housed in a gorgeous matte glass bottle in a unique oval shape. There is a pump which is great news because I have been put off by purchasing the NARS foundations because they do not include a pump and I just find it quite annoying.
First things first, I have oily-combination skin therefore you can use that as a reference if you have skin similar to mine. My major concerns are my pores and becoming oily looking throughout the day therefore I need a foundation which works with with that. I am aware that Luminous silk is not a mattifying foundation nor is it a heavy coverage foundation, but I do know that it gives the most amazing finish and is buildable. Longevity wise, this wears 3-4 hours and I need to start blotting as this foundation is marketed as a luminous finish therefore mattifying powers are lower compared with my other foundations.
On application, this foundation is easily blended and feels quite lightweight and provides a sheer to medium coverage. I find that it is very similar to the L'oreal true match foundation in texture and coverage. I tend to use one layer for everyday use and build it up to two layers if I desire a more flawless look. The finish it gives really is as it describes - definitely luminous but not over the top shiny. I like using my fingers or my real techniques buffing brush to apply this foundation, both works well in my opinion but using fingers mean less product wastage.
As you may or may not know, this foundation does not contain any SPF. This can be beneficial for when you are on a night out and flash photography is involved as it would not give you the ghostly flashbacks if you were to have applied SPF products on the face. However, the downfall is when you want to wear this foundation during the daytime because no SPF means that your skin would not be protected against the rays of the sun therefore an extra step in the skincare may be needed.
Overall, I really like this high end foundation and I believe that it is worth the money. However, I do think that alot of drugstore foundations are just as good as this without the heavy price tag. The finish it gives is lovely and it really does deserve a big thumbs up. Perfect for nights out and if you haven't tried it, I urge you to pop to your Giorgio armarni makeup counter and give it a go.
