MY PRIMER COLLECTION || REVIEW

Over the years i have accumulated a bunch of primers in my make-up collection so i thought that it is a good idea to share a mini brief review on each one for you lovely readers. Firstly, i have combination-oily skin so i would like my primers to help with sebum control and make my make-up more long lasting.

Maybelline Dream Smooth Primer
This is a very jelly like type consistency and i was very interested in trying it out. I liked the small pot this product was packaged in so it was good for taking for travelling. I find this product to be nothing special and it has that very distinct silicone feel to it so some of you out there may not like it. It leaves the skin very smooth and it allowed my foundation to guide on it seemlessly. I do like this, but i find that you get too little product for your money and it can be used up very quickly.

L'oreal Studio Secrets Resurfacing Primer
I bought this product quite a while ago. Although i didn't love it, i didn't hate it neither. I find that the consistency of this is pretty thick and i usually have to warm up the product with my fingers before applying onto the face otherwise it would be too cakey and make my foundation more difficult to apply. A very good all rounder primer though if you are willing to make it work for you.

Shu Uemura UV underbase mousse
A very lightweight formulation which helps to brighten and even out skin-tone. It has a very high SPF which is great for use in the summer or on holiday. I find that the pump is very convenient to get an appropriate amount out for the entire face. It reduces the appearance of my pores and i find that it helps control my sebum levels too. A perfect primer for the summer or take on holiday due to its small packaging

The Body Shop mattifying primer
Another silicone based primer promising for that mattifying effect. Personally i find that this primer didn't really do it's job as well as i wanted it to. My oils came through regardless of whether i used this or not therefore i was a little bit let down. However, like most primers, it did make my foundation glide on easier and hid my pores very well. I personally like the body shop products but this just didn't work for me. Big thumbs down for this.

Laura Mercier foundation primer
This is a primer that stands out from the rest of my other primers. It is more of a lotion texture and it just melts into the skin really well to give a nice prepped skin ready for make-up. I just love the feel of this after application and i find that it doesn't emphasize my dry patches when i do have them. Due to the nature of this not being oil-free, i do need to blot and touch up my foundation a bit more requently.

No.7 Shine Free Primer
This product does it's job very very well and i think this deserves a big thumbs up. It mattifies the skin very well and it does control my oils very well throughout the day. I am overall impressed with this primer and i like using it on long days where i hardly have anytime to blot or touch up my foundation. One downside to this is that it does have some kind of drying effect on the skin and i find that it accentuated my dry patches if i had any, therefore i tend to avoid my more dryer areas when using this. Definitely a must have for oily skin individuals out there who is looking for a primer to control their oils.

Revlon Photoready Primer
Nothing too special about this primer. This is another silicone based primer but in a pump bottle which makes application a bit more easier. The texture is slightly on the thicker side and it does block up the nozzle after every use, so you will get a dried blob at the end of the pump nozzle which ends up you having product coming out out of your control. I will not repurchase this product.

GOSH Velvet Touch Line Perfector
A review i did a very long time ago, highlighted how much i didn't like this primer. This is a very balmy texture and i find that it just sat on top of my skin and made my dry patches on my skin look even worse than it is. It does give a nice smooth finish and hide pores quite well, but i didn't see anything special about this really. Disappointing product from GOSH because i do really love some of their products. Their eyeliners are amazing!

Shu Uemura Ultime8 Sublime beauty cleansing oil REVIEW

"Targets 8 skin concerns in one single step. Most advanced cleanser yet using 8 botanical origin oils to provide 8 outstanding skincare benefits:
Skin feels smoother 94%
Skin feels moisturised 92%
Skin looks more radiant 90%
Skin looks refined 92%

Skin looks more Supple 92%

* Consumer test on 49 Asian women using this twice a day"
150ml - £34
450ml - £68

I love the simplistic packaging that is always achieved for the packaging of Shu uemura products. I purchased this when i was in Hong Kong because i have always wanted to try out their cleansing oils and this  particular one was new on the shelves and i was drawn to it's claims and benefits. There are two sizes and i opted for the smaller choice because i didn't want to invest in a product that doesn't work for me. I use this product twice a day followed by my usual skincare that i use regularly.

First thoughts are that 3-4 pumps which is recommended would be too much product. I use only 1 pump which is enough in my opinion as the product spreads quite easily. I apply this all over my dry face and give it a good rub in. Eventually, i gradually add water which makes the product turn into a nice milky consistency and makes me feel that the make-up and dirt on my face is thoroughly washed off. What i like about this is how it left my skin feeling. My skin not only feel cleansed, but it felt soft, supple and nourished. This is so gentle that it didn't aggrevate my sensitive skin and although this is an oil, it did not make my oily skin any more oilier or clog my pores.

I will definitely repurchase the full sized version of this when it is finished although i have noticed that the product does get used up quite quickly and everyday pump after pump, i see the products dissapearing right before my very eyes. In my opinion, the price for this product is really worth it for it's benefits and the way in which it makes your skin feels. I am not saying that i would agree with the claims made, but i do reckon it changed the condition of my skin making it feel much more replenished and hydrated. A bit thumbs up to Shu uemura for this product and i am very excited to try out the other skincare products by them!

NOVEMBER || HAUL

Since returning from my holiday back in September and beginning my postgraduate course, i have been very firm with my spendings and tried to focus on finishing some of the products that i already have. However, recently boots not only had a 3 for 2 offer, but now it is buy 1 get 1 half price on cosmetics so it was pretty hard to resist a few cheeky purchases. Toni and Guy products were 3 for £12 which was such a bargain and i never tried their products before so i took this opportunity to give it a go. Apart from the essential toiletries, i also bought the gorgeous Shu Uemura eyelash curlers from the Karl Lagerfield collection which features a sexy red pad as opposed to the boring standard black. So i am now just going to list the items that i bought below and the Revlon lip butter in Peach parfait which my thoughtful boyfriend went and got for me because he checked my wishlist on here. He proper shocked and surprised me with it because i wasn't expecting it at all~! Ohh, and i will be reviewing some of these products very soon so i will keep you guys updated.

~ My Summer Essentials ~

So the weather has been a bit on the brighter side these few days and yay for the sunshine finally appearing in our lives. However, great weather comes with a greater dependance on sun protection and prevent looking like a hot mess. I personally like to soak up the sun rays and get a nice decent tan, but i know that it is really bad for the skin without any sun protection and it can really damage the skin and lead to premature ageing. I should be taking precautions now that i am in my early 20s because"prevention is better than cure!". I like to use a high SPF for my face and a slightly lower one for the rest of my body. I don't burn that easily like some other people, therefore i feel that my sun protection factor doesn't need to be too high as im scared that it will block up my pores etc. So this post i am going to share with you the products that i rely on during the hot summer days which helps me to survive and keep cool~

- Clinique SPF40 face cream -
I use this when UV rays are extremely high on very hot days because i feel that i need that extra protection to prevent my face from getting damaged. I think that using extra sun protection on the face is very important, because the sun can cause you to get freckles or sunspots which i really do not want at all! This face cream comes out quite thick when you squeeze it out like tube, much like the conventional suncreams you get, but as you rub it into your face it feels really refreshing and gets absorbed very quickly and doesn't feel heavy at all.

- Shu uemura underbase mousse -
On hot days, the last thing i would want is heavy products on the skin like therefore i think this underbase mousse is perfect for the occasion and i hate that the weather hasn't been good enough for me to use this more often. It is a very lightweight mouuse that applies a thin coating to your face. As well as providing a nice moisturised base and brightens your complexion, it also has a high SPF factor of 30PA++ which is essential to prevent sun spots and freckles from developing. I have the Pink version of this product which i believe is meant to make you appear more radiant and have a whiter complexion, but there is a normal beige version which is standard and doesn't have much light reflecting particles. The product smells very nice too and it is easy to apply evenly across the face so i really recommend this during the summer time!

- The Body Shop Vitamin E spray -
The cheaper alternative to the expensive Caudalie Beauty Elixer which i still want to try out soon but don't want to spend so much money on it and have read some mixed reviews on it so i am kind of still pondering. However, this Body shop facial mist doesn't fail to impress with its reasonable price and does exactly what it is supposed to it. I use it when the weather is hot and humid in order to rehydrate my skin to leave me feeling more refreshed. This product smells lovely of rose water too which i really like and enjoy using it everytime. A refreshing sensation and in a small bottle, it is great for popping into your handbag along with your essential summer survival products. It is also ideal for setting make-up too packed with beneficial Vitamin E ingredients to soften and protect the skin.

- Evian facial spray -
Much like the body shop facial spray, this has a refreshing and hydrating purpose. This is more suitable for individuals with more sensitive skin as well as those who prefers fragrance free natural products on their skin. Packaged in an aerosol can, i feel that this product has more of a cooling sensation and the mist is much more lighter than the standard facial sprays which feels somewhat denser. However, i cannot believe the price of this judging by the fact that this is just water in a can with no added beneficial ingredients therefore this is a one off buy for me and i will probably delve into more products that have beneficial properties for the skin to try out.

~ March Favourites ~

A month has passed again and products are discovered, or rediscovered in some cases. Weathers have changed and spring has finally sprung with a bit of sunshine here in the UK. This month i believe that the most exciting release was the revlon lip butters after a long anticipated wait and i managed to grab myself three shades since i do not want to go overboard and be greedy buying all the shades.....though maybe some time in the future i shall invest in more hehehe.
So here are the products which have made it into my favourites of this month, you can just look at the picture above for a generalised idea of them, or you can proceed to read about the details on why i love them below:

1. Clinique self sun body tinted lotion (Light/Medium)
Sun has been appearing and the legs should be prepped to make an appearance! finally, after the long cold winter months. This product is just amazing and i haven't touched any other tanning products since discovering this one. I apply a light layer during the night, wait for it to dry and sleep through the night with it and wash it off in the morning when i shower and it gives the most gorgeous natural tan ever with minimal streaking! Tip: exfoliate first before application and wait until properly dry, around 15 minutes at least, before allowing contact with clothes. Highly recommended product girlies! :)

2. E.L.F studio Kabuki brush
This is a rediscovery after sorting out my make-up storage and i felt how soft this was and decided to use it for setting my foundation with my M.A.C mineralise skin finish. So simple to use and can distribute an even and appropriate amount of product onto my face. The price of this brush is a bargain for it's quality and i do recommend people that hasn't got it to invest in one as it is just so useful and good quality!

3. Maybelline the falsies waterproof mascara
Bought this to try out as i cannot afford to constantly repurchase my Lancome mascaras which are really expensive and dries out very quickly since i use it almost on a daily basis! I chose the waterproof formulated one as i believe that only waterproof mascaras will hold my curls and not make them droop as i have found that most non-waterproof formulas does. This mascara definitely ticks all the boxes for me and it has made me feel so stupid that i haven't discovered it sooner. Nonetheless, i still kind of prefer my Lancome Hypnose because of the brush which is smaller and easier to use rather than this huge spoon brush which just makes a mess regardless of how well it works, i still have to clean up after! Does its job for half the price of the Lancome one, that is why this is in this months favourite products.
4. Body Shop Vitamin E facial spray
Due to the weather...OR my new Chanel perfection lumiere foundation (Will do a product review on soon), my skin has been pretty dry and patches around my cheek areas seem to have come about. I use this facial mist to moisturise throughout the day and relieve any dryness. The smell of rosewater is very calming and it is delightful to use. I also use it to set my foundation so that it doesn't look too cakey after applying my powder on top and it does a wonderful job in making my face look a bit more natural by restoring some kind of dewy glow.

5. Revlon Lipbutter: Tutti Frutti
Well well, it is no suprise that this has made it into my favourites. It is the lipbutters in general with their amazing formulas which is moisturising yet provides a sheer colour to your lips which is buildable according to the look you want to achieve. It is the shade 'tutti frutti' which is my favourite as i think this shade adds a pop of colour to my make-up especially with the pastel trends right now and it really does brighten my complexion and make me feel more vibrant and alive. I love it love it so much and i have been using it everyday since having it...kind of neglected the other shade i got, oops.

6. Shu uemura UV under-base mousse 'Pink version'
Whacking this baby out again, i swear by using this product during the hot summery days. This make-up product is perfect for people who wants a more brightening complexion but doesn't want to use silicone based primer on the skin prior make-up. This foaming make-up base is pink coloured base which gives a suttle luminous sheen to the skin when applied and whats even better, is that it has a high spf of 30++ and it's light foam texture means that it glides onto the skin effortlessly. One downsize to this, like most foaming products, it is quite difficult to pump out the desired amount. For girlies who doesn't have much blemishes and want to go for the natural look, this should be enough to even out skin-tone without clogging up your pores :) perfect sunscreen with benefits!

7. Laura Mercier oil-free tinted moisturiser 'Nude'
As stated before, my Chanel perfection lumiere was quite drying on my skin so i have been alternating with this product when my skin is more on the better side and when i am just having a casual day. This tinted moisturiser is light and easy to apply, just slap it on and im ready to go. It gives a nice dewyness to my face although oil control is not particularly impressive, but theres nothing that a good primer can't sort out. More on the pricier side, but the finish it gives is really natural and its wonderful for the no make-up kind of make-up look. Gives a fresh finish during the hotter days and your face feels light and you even forget that your wearing any make up :) Its a bonus that it provides an SPF of 20 aswell.

8. Maybelline color tattoo 24hour eyeshadow 'Endless purple'
Highly raved product in the beauty world and i have to agree with everyone and jump on the bandwagon again. This is greatly compared with the M.A.C paint-pots which i absolutley adore so when this much cheaper alternative came by, i jumped at the opportunity. I bought only the purple one to test for its quality and see if it works for my oily eyelids. It works wonders and i love love love it and i am going to purchase all the other colours aswell hopefully! It is really pigmented and easy to blend and work it. Nice base for eyeshadows to adhere onto, or it can simply be worn on its one. So simple to use and for the price, it is a total bargain!

9. Chanel eyeshadow quad '08 Vanites'
I've always wanted one of these Chanel eyeshodow quads since like forever, so when i finally got this i was over the moon and used it constantly. I chose the purply shades since i lack purple coloured eyeshadows. Although the colours are not very pigmented and very shimmery/glittery, they were very easy to work with and blended like a dream to give a nice gradient eyeshadow look. The sponges provided works very well too, but i prefer to use my brushes since it is easier to apply and i don't have to deal with the small fiddly sponges! Love the colours and how buildable and blendable they are. Really worth the price and i love them!

10. Clinique lash power mascara (bottom lashes)
Finally, it is my long lost love for my clinique mascara which used to be my holy grail mascara before being replaced by my beloved Lancome hypnose right now. I have re-discovered this and have been useing it for my bottom lashes. It's small wand makes it perfect to grab my tiny lashes on my lower lashline and doesn't go everywhere like most of the big wanded mascaras. It is waterproof and sweatproof which is ideal for using it since i am a contact lens wearer and eyes tend to water when it gets dry later on in the evening. such a cute little trustworthy mascara and i am keen to try their bottom lash mascara which is made specifically for bottom lashes!

*********
So these are my beauty favourite round ups, Tell me what your favourites are? and whether any products you have re-discovered from your stash of make-up~

Thank you so much for reading and i hope you have a great day <3
